Note: This is NOT a developer. Not a Cobol role. This is a systems position.
Mainframe Systems Administrator
Location Columbia , SC ( hybrid 3 days on site per week and as needed )
Duration 12 months
Local candidates are preferred
C2 clearance eligibility is required
Work Schedule:
- Core Hours: 8 AM 5 PM
- Overtime Required:
- During Disaster Recovery Exercises (minimum 4 times/year)
- Could be 12 to 24-hour shifts, including weekends and off-hours.
Must Have Skills: z/OS, JCL, SDSF, Dataset management, Knowledge of DASD management, z/OS HMC management, APF knowledge, DB2, CICS, MQ, BMC MF applications.
Responsibilities (Day-to-Day):
- Support and maintain z/OS mainframe
- Update JCL
- Monitor system logs using SDSF
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution
- Recover z/OS and other applications during disaster recovery
- Manage hardware/software support licenses
- Submit purchase requisitions
Soft Skills Required:
- Strong communication
- Strong troubleshooting
- Must be a self-starter, not an entry-level candidate
Team Environment:
- Team of 4 people 1 manager
- Supports external customers
- Handles secondary portability and disaster recovery
- Covers both distributed systems and mainframe systems
