- Supervises the technical performance of all personnel in the Echo and Ultrasound Departments to ensure high standards of quality and productivity for Echo. Is responsible for assuring that all individuals in the department who are responsible for the assessment, treatment, and care of patients are competent to deliver care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Ensures that these individuals demonstrate the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs, possess the knowledge of growth and development, and have an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups.
- Acts as a resource individual for the Technologists in need of aid in regards to techniques, positioning, equipment used, etc. Demonstrates and explains difficult or new techniques and procedures.
- Is responsible for the direction of Technologists and supporting personnel with regard to schedules and work assignments including call arrangements.
- Ensures periodic equipment checks are made to measure accuracy in testing and performing exams.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Echo and Meditech.

Job Description : PATIENT POPULATION :
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY :
Under the direction of the Administrative Director of Imaging and Physical Therapy, Imaging Director, and in consultation with the Cardiologists, the Echo Technologist Lead supervises the performance of all Echos. Must be knowledgeable in the area of patient requirements, especially safety and comfort. . Is responsible for the assessment, treatment and care of patients, creating the work schedule, QC / QA programs and processes, education and training, ordering supplies, time card approval, evaluations, ensure regulatory agency compliance, and any other duties of daily operations at site(s) by organizing and prioritizing procedures and delegating specific duties to keep patient flow effective and in a timely manner. Must be competent to deliver care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Ensures that the Technologists demonstrate the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs. Possesses the knowledge of growth and development and have an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups.
They are responsible for being a role model of excellent customer service for the staff and other co-workers. S / he is expected to participate and / or lead Performance Improvement (PI) Projects. This position is a working lead tech position. Must maintain an environment of cohesiveness and teamwork.
Must be familiar with all types of Echo equipment and accessories used in the department. Supervises and schedules Technologists to assigned areas and that they are responsible for the assessment, treatment, and care of patients and are competent to deliver care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Ensures that these individuals demonstrate the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs. Possesses the knowledge of growth and development, and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups. Must follow AIDET and accept reassignments and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner. May be assigned to work in other Imaging modalities.
Must be able to work normal / scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS :
To perform this job successfully, one (1) year of Echo experience preferred. ARDMS certification preferred. Must have attended an Echo Training Program with a minimum of one (1) year of equivalent of clinical experience. Must have and maintain current BLS card, required.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
4 Collaborates with the Department Director or Manager in evaluations, counseling issues, recruitment, and / or promotions.
5 Designates and trains Technologists for Echo and meets with them on a regular basis. Submits reports of the meetings to the Administrative Director.
6 In consultation with the Administrative Director, collaborates room utilization and cost-accounting methods and assists in the planning and preparation of budgets for operational activities.
8 Coordinates service and preventive maintenance of the equipment with floor function.
10 Performs TEE's and coordinates appointments with the Cardiologists and RN's.
11 Handles administrative details incident to procurement and storage of supplies and equipment. Performs product evaluations as required. Maintains records and reports of these activities. Keeps abreast of new developments in Echo procedures, methods and equipment. Evaluates their applicability to departmental operations and makes recommendations to the Administrative Director.
12 Accepts reassignments and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner.
13 Follows AIDET
14 Monitors reading / interpretation of exams and contacts physicians for STAT reading requests. Notifies management of reading / interpretation delays in order to expedite reporting of results when delayed.
