Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position involves providing compassionate care and support in the home and community. The DSP will assist clients with daily living activities, promote independence, and ensure their overall well-being.
Duties
- Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Support clients in developing and following care plans tailored to their individual needs.
- Monitor and record vital signs as needed to ensure the health and safety of clients.
- Engage clients in social activities to promote interaction and community involvement.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health status to the appropriate personnel.
- Provide first aid as necessary and respond to emergencies according to established protocols.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in caregiving or a related field is preferred; experience with disabilities and special needs is a plus.
- Knowledge of basic first aid techniques and ability to perform CPR will be required after onboarding.
- Familiarity with care plans and the ability to implement them effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to caregiving.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.
- A valid driver's license, automobile and current insurance policy required.
- Must be 18 yrs and have at minimum a High School Diploma or GED
