The Buyer/Procurement Specialist will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods and services in compliance with federal regulations, company policies, and contract requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and other relevant procurement guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and vendors to meet project and contractual requirements.
Ensure all purchases adhere to FAR, DFARS, and other government procurement regulations.
Negotiate pricing, favorable terms, and conditions with vendors to secure the best value for the company while maintaining compliance.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure quality, delivery, and service standards.
Prepare and issue high-volume purchase orders in the procurement system, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, and compliance with contractual obligations.
Conduct market research to identify cost-saving opportunities, alternative suppliers, and emerging industry trends.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with internal teams to meet project needs efficiently.
Identify and mitigate potential procurement risks, including supplier performance, compliance issues, and cost overruns.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier contracts, and procurement activities for audits and reporting purposes.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications & Education Requirements and Desired Skillsets
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field preferred.
3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in a government contracting environment.
Strong understanding of FAR, DFARS, and government procurement processes.
Excellent negotiation, analytical, organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and procurement software (e.g., Deltek, Costpoint, SAP).
Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM), or similar certifications are a plus.
On-site role, that is fast-paced, deadline-driven in a government contracting environment.
Must be able to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including contracts, finance, compliance, engineers, and project management.
U.S. Citizenship with Active Secret Security clearance and ability to maintain required clearance.
Physical Description
Employees in these roles will work in a typical office environment, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and video conferencing tools. Responsibilities include regular use of computer software, engaging with diverse personnel, participating in meetings, and contributing to team objectives by delivering timely outcomes and generating reports. Key duties involve effectively receiving and communicating information.
The role may allow for occasional telework and may require flexible shifts or hours to meet organizational needs and business demands. Periodic travel may also be necessary to support assigned tasks.
