Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken.
Manage facility maintenance operations, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and general building upkeep.
Coordinate emergency response procedures, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and first aid training.
Oversee contractor and vendor activities to ensure safety and facility standards are met.
Maintain accurate records of safety training, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and recommend preventive measures.
Collaborate with HR and management to deliver health and safety training programs.
Support sustainability initiatives and ensure environmental compliance.
Manage budgets related to safety equipment, facility repairs, and maintenance supplies.
Minimum Qualifications & Education Requirements and Desired Skillsets
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in a safety and facilities role, preferably in [industry-specific, e.g., manufacturing, corporate office, healthcare].
Certifications such as OSHA 30, NEBOSH, or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) are preferred.
Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Proficient in facility management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
Combination of office work and on-site facility inspections.
May require occasional evening or weekend work for emergency situations or projects.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and work in varying environmental conditions.
Physical Description
Employees in these positions will function in a general office/cubicle setting environment, and laboratory/testing setting using standard office equipment and various electronic testing equipment, including a computer, telephone, printers, video equipment, computer software and testing equipment. Will interact in a general office setting environment with various personnel; participate in meetings and contribute to team success; deliver timely results and produce reports; receive and communicate information; may include telework. May function in a specialized laboratory/testing environment using electronic testing equipment, computer software and complex systems. May move and test equipment of various weights. Laboratory environment may require use of protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to safety glasses and protective hearing and footwear. May be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization due to business demands; travel occasionally for assigned work.
