Position Overview
The Lead Mechanic performs diagnostic and repair work, including scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to trucks (medium, and heavy commercial/DOT-regulated vehicles and forklifts). Position works with a high degree of independence. Position also requires a number of physical movements, including lifting, pinching, bending, reaching, climbing, and manipulating and handling objects. This position requires that you have your own basic hand tools. Diagnostic, ergonomic, major shop equipment will be provided. 3-5 years of relevant work experience are required for this experienced-level position.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair fleet equipment (Semi Tractors, Trailers, Tandems, & Forklifts, etc.)
- Diagnose failures of vehicles and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary
- Computer-based diagnostics interface with modern truck interfaces
- Basic computer use (email and web browser)
- Adherence to DOT regulations
- Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles
- Answer road calls
- Maintain vehicle records as required
- Fill out all necessary documents
- Maintain records such as daily checklist (pre-trip inspection)
- Other duties as assigned by management
Skills We Are Seeking
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- 21 years or older as CDL required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Commercial Driver's License: CDL Permit or Class A CDL or ability to obtain Class A CDL [90 days] post hire
- Experienced repairing and maintaining Class A Heavy Duty Trucks and Trailers
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience is required for this experienced-level position
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds (with or without an accommodation)
- Able to reach, lift, carry, push and pull (with or without an accommodation)
