Position Summary:
SkyWater Technology seeks a MTS Solutions Engineer to drive growth in ROIC and Hi-Rel CMOS technologies for Aerospace & Defense, Industrial, and Automotive markets. This role focuses on capturing high-value opportunities, ensuring technical compatibility, and securing design wins by directly engaging with clients and internal teams. As the primary technical liaison, the Solutions Engineer will leverage expertise in 90nm chip processes and ASIC design to solve complex challenges and translate SkyWater’s technological capabilities into customer success. Ideal candidates have a strong Field Applications or Design Engineering background, experience with foundational node technologies, and a passion for advancing A&D and Industrial semiconductor solutions.
Responsibilities
Revenue and Growth Strategy:
Lead technical alignment between our customers designs and SkyWater’s technology, with a primary focus on Aerospace and Defense applications. A Secondary focus will be automotive and Industrial applications.
Drive significant revenue growth by driving design opportunities for ROIC and Hi-Rel CMOS technologies.
Progress a robust pipeline of opportunities through technical scoping, ensuring a winning proposal that align with customer needs and corporate goals.
Set and achieve design win growth targets through strategic client engagement and innovative solutions.
Support BUs in internal business development for government project and program proposals.
Winning Solutions:
Collaborate with sales and technology development to communicate market and customer wants and needs.
Assist SkyWater technology development group during scoping process to interpret and clarify customer requirements aligned with broader market needs.
Produce customer project/program proposals and SOWs in close coordination with the business units to gain approval to ensure proposal supports SkyWater business objectives.
Collaborate with sales opportunity owner to present new business proposals to customers and provide technical support to sales and BU throughout negotiations to close business.
Cultivate and expand relationships with key stakeholders, including chip design leads, program managers, and engineers in the A&D sector.
Represent SkyWater as a leader in semiconductor solutions at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Sales, Business Development, and Platform Marketing to develop winning strategies tailored to A&D customers.
Align solutions engineering initiatives with sales, operations, and marketing to deliver seamless and scalable client solutions.
Lead cross-functional efforts to transform customer requirements into actionable plans, ensuring compatibility with SkyWater’s technology.
Operational Excellence and Compliance:
Leverage and improve internal systems for developing and tracking winning proposals.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements, including ITAR, to meet the needs of A&D customers.
Support customer usage, and generational improvements, of SkyWater design kits with a focus on key functionality and capabilities to grow our business,
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
15 years of experience in chip design or field applications, with a proven track record of supporting A&D markets.
Strong understanding of DROIC, Hi-Rel CMOS technologies, and customer applications and systems.
Demonstrated understanding of Cadence and Mentor based PDK environments.
Experience with regulatory and security requirements in the defense sector, including ITAR compliance.
Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency in CRM systems (Salesforce) and Microsoft Office.
U.S. Citizenship is required - Willingness to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Ability to travel 15-30% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Advanced degree in Engineering.
Experience in leading design or integration efforts for semiconductor foundry services or custom IC solutions in A&D markets.
Knowledge of legacy CMOS nodes (130nm, 90nm, 65nm) and emerging technologies such as silicon photonics and superconducting ICs.
Established relationships within the A&D community, including primes, government agencies, and subcontractors.
