The Tennessee Department of Health, Division of Family Health and Wellness is seeking a Nurse Abstractor within the Reproductive and Women's Health section.
The goal of the abstractor position is to comprehensively gather pertinent information to accurately capture the events of a person's life leading up to and including death.
Key duties include :
- Receiving identified deaths for review
- Promptly abstracting information
- Establishing relationships with hospitals and facilities to obtain medical records
- Reviewing records and completing MMRIA forms accurately
- Drafting case narratives
- Attending review committee meetings
- Assisting with data entry of committee decision forms into MMRIA
- Conducting informant interviews
- Staying updated on best practices for case abstraction through monthly abstractor meetings and an annual MMRIA user meeting.
