As Smith Brothers continues to grow, we are looking to expand our Finance & Accounting team to include a Staff Accountant. Our ideal candidate will be able to handle conventional accounting tasks while providing internal and external clients with the highest level of service possible. This individual will ensure department goals are met by following company policies and procedures and will participate in projects, training, and other duties as assigned.

Primary Job Responsibilities
- Reviews and marks-up carrier statements for processing.
- Coding and reviewing invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to processing.
- Entering financial data and transactions into the ledger including disbursements, receipts, and journal entries.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in financial data between internal records and external statements.
- Analyze and reconcile bank statements and general ledgers to ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Assisting with month-end closing and providing monthly reporting.
- Provide back-up support to one or more of the Finance & Accounting department personnel.
- Other ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
- Reviews, updates, and develops departmental processes and procedures.
- Make recommendations on how to improve workflows and procedures to aid efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all processes and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in internal learning and development sessions.
- Stay relevant in role and updated on industry trends and best practices of team member engagement.
- Maintain confidentiality of client and company information and adhere to all personal and financial data privacy protocols.

- Minimum of two years’ experience in an office environment; Insurance Agency and/or accounting experience are preferred.

- Fast paced office environment.
- Ability to view computer monitors for extended periods of time.
