Position Overview: As a Production Supervisor at SMTC, you will play a crucial role in directing the activities of the leads, with a strong emphasis on product quality, on-time delivery, cost, and factory production efficiency. Additionally, you will be responsible for supporting key business metrics, maintaining general housekeeping, and ensuring workplace safety. In this position, you will be instrumental in training and developing employees, ensuring adherence to handbook guidelines and rules.
Duties:
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with established policies and procedures, including 5S (6S) requirements.
• Foster a work environment that encourages strong interaction between all shift team members to effectively communicate production concerns.
• Identify resource needs backed by data such as time studies and capacity, and ensure production schedules are met.
• Serve as the Team Leader for the assigned shift, ensuring proper carryover of production activities and requirements.
• Set the direction relative to manufacturing goals and direct leads and associates to meet day-to-day production needs.
• Identify and communicate information to address product quality, defect prevention, product disposition, and rework and/or repair activity.
• Ensure adequate handling of material to avoid damage and/or prevent loss.
• Ensure all manufacturing processes necessary to build a quality product are in place and up to date.
• Provide input to Capacity Planning as customer's production demands fluctuate.
• Define and communicate directions for housekeeping and safety practices.
• Achieve positive results in all areas by balancing quality, productivity, cost, and morale.
• • Review MOV (Mfg. Order Variance) weekly based on Planning/Accounting generated reports.
• Initiate corrective actions as needed to address opportunities within the manufacturing floor.
• Address any CPAR (Corrective Actions) issued with thorough analysis and timely closure.
• Monitor and manage Scrap and DMRs (Discrepant Material Reports) in real-time with appropriate root cause and corrective action analysis.
• Ensure cycle counts are performed as needed to maintain accurate WIP counts.
• Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provide regular progress reports to the manager.
• Interpret and ensure compliance with SMTC and department policies and laws.
• Provide leadership and manage the unit/program/department, make decisions in the best interest of the company, solve problems, develop procedures, and conduct meetings.
• Manage and mentor employees, providing adequate training, coaching, counseling, and motivation.
• Evaluate employee performance, investigate complaints, implement disciplinary actions, and address and resolve employee concerns.
• Ensure accurate time tracking for employees reporting to you and yourself, in compliance with government and company requirements.
• Attend and participate in all Customer Focus Team (CFT) meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience for the Production Supervisor:
• High School diploma or GED.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s in a technical or business-related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of lean manufacturing with demonstrated team participation and/or leadership and related continuous improvement successes.
• Experience in leadership, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and organization.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Self-starter with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong technical, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Experience with industrial manufacturing equipment on the production line.
• Ability to utilize general office equipment: computer, telephone, copy machine, and more.
