The NYU (New York, NY) Steinhardt Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions (MPAP) Music Theory program seeks a qualified candidate to teach 1–2 core undergraduate music theory and / or aural skills courses for the Fall 2024 semester. Ideal candidates will have a background in popular music or non-Western music and an interest in inclusivity and expanding diversity in music theory pedagogy.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The faculty member will teach 1–2 undergraduate core music theory and / or aural skills courses in the Fall 2024 semester. Courses meet on campus, twice a week for 75 minutes, beginning September 2024.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

ABD or terminal degree in music theory, composition, or a related field of music with appropriate specialization and experience.
At least one year of teaching experience at the college level teaching undergraduate music theory and / or ear-training courses as the primary instructor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Evidence of innovative and inclusive approaches to music theory pedagogy.

Interest or research background in popular music and / or non-Western musics.
