Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Qualified Mental Health Professional (Adult) or Trainee to join our team. This position involves providing high-quality, evidence-based mental health care to adult clients experiencing a range of mental health challenges. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with other professionals to deliver therapeutic services and support the mental well-being of individuals in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized service plans for clients, ensuring that therapeutic goals are clear and measurable.
- Monitor clients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in accordance with relevant policies and confidentiality guidelines.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as psychologists, social workers, and medical staff, providing care coordination services.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to clients in crisis situations.
- Participate in regular supervision and team meetings to ensure ongoing professional development.
- For trainees, there will be opportunities for mentorship and development under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Licensure, Training & Travel Requirements (if applicable):
- Education: Bachelors or Masters Degree in human services, a related field, or degree deemed equivalent to those described, from an accredited college. A human services field includes social work, gerontology, psychology, psychiatric rehabilitation, special education, sociology, counseling, and human services counseling.
- Work experience: Considerable experience working with emotionally troubled individuals, or equivalent experience as specified by VDBHDS/DMAS regulations. Must be able to show a minimum of one (1) year direct service to individuals. QPPMH meeting VDBHDS/DMAS regulations are also considered.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Sound knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention. Demonstrated skill in working with individuals with mental health diagnoses. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with individuals receiving services and staff.
- Interpersonal Skills: Continuous contact with individuals and other staff in planning and providing individual services. Regularly contact members of other service agencies providing additional services to individuals such as social workers, psychiatrist, court officials and police, teachers and other human services professionals.
- Travel Requirements: A valid VA Drivers License and car insurance required. Travel includes home visits to assigned clients and transporting clients to and from appointments and other activities as needed within the Individual Service Plan.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Mental Health Professional (Adult):
- A degree or equivalent in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field.
- Relevant QMHP (A/T) license, active through the Virginia Board of Counseling.
- Previous experience working with adults in a mental health setting is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of mental health diagnoses, treatment interventions, and evidence-based practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Qualified Mental Health Professional (Trainee):
- Completion of a relevant degree program or equivalent qualification in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field.
- Relevant QMHP (A/T) license, active through the Virginia Board of Counseling.
- Strong desire to develop clinical skills and contribute to improving mental health services.
- Ability to work under supervision and be open to learning.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for helping others.
