What are the responsibilities and job description for the Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) position at Spring of Hope Therapeutic Services?
Overview:
We are seeking Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) to provide direct mental health services to individuals with behavioral, emotional, or psychiatric conditions. QMHPs work in various settings, including community-based programs. Their primary role is to support individuals by implementing treatment plans, providing skill-building interventions, and assisting with daily living activities to improve overall functioning and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct mental health services, including individual and group interventions, crisis stabilization, and skill-building.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed clinician.
- Monitor and document client progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with state and agency regulations.
- Assist individuals with developing coping strategies, social skills, and independent living skills.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, case managers, and other mental health professionals to coordinate care.
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning when necessary.
- Educate clients and families on mental health conditions and available community resources.
- Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a human services-related field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Sociology, Special Education, Human Development).
- We will also consider QMHPP with relevant experiecnce to service Adults
- Registration with the Virginia Board of Counseling:
- All QMHPs must register with the Virginia Board of Counseling under the appropriate category:
- QMHP-A (Adult) – Works with adults with mental health needs.
- QMHP-C (Child & Adolescent) – Works with children and adolescents with mental health needs.
- Background Check:
- Must pass a criminal background check and may be subject to a Child Protective Services (CPS) check if working with minors.
- Additional Requirements:
- TOVA Training
- CPR-First Aide
- Completion of required training in mental health ethics, crisis intervention, and service delivery models.
- Strong communication, documentation, and crisis management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
