Job Summary:
The Sokaogon Chippewa Health Clinic (SCHC) Human Resources Director will manage all Clinic HR operations in accordance within the signed policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with tribal, state, and federal regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Managing the HR department to include the department’s budget and ensuring compliance with tribal, state, and federal regulations.
Recruit and Onboard all new employees (including Providers) for the Health Clinic which includes but not limited to:
- Job Postings, screening applications, scheduling and participating in interviews, and conducting background checks
- Working with clinic staff to provide all the necessary information for clinic credentialing process.
- Facilitate and develop onboarding processes for new hires, ensuring they complete necessary paperwork, have the necessary tools and equipment, and receive appropriate training and orientation.
- Explain the benefit packages available to new hires along with clinic protocol, policies, and procedures.
Perform general administrative duties including the following:
- Maintain accurate employee records, including personal information, benefits enrollment, performance evaluations, and training documentation.
- Schedule and coordinate Human Resources meetings and training sessions with clinic staff.
- Prepare reports and data related to Human Resources metrics and compliance.
- Follow all labor laws and regulations.
Must work closely with Clinic Administrators to meet SCHC Policy Standards and Goals.
Responsible for developing, updating and implementing SCHC Policy and Procedure Employee Handbook.
Must Maintain a high degree of integrity and security to protect sensitive health care information in compliance with the HIPAA Privacy Act and CFR 42 part II.
Handle sensitive employee information with confidentiality and discretion.
Help address and resolve employee queries and concerns in a timely manner.
Maintain a positive and professional demeanor in all interactions with employees.
Attend Tribal Council, SCHC health Board, and SCHC Administration meetings as required.
Must have a working knowledge and be able to adhere to all tribal ordinances, policies, and procedures, EPA permitting process, THPO permitting process and any other regulations that are applicable to the grant projects.
Complete all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Associate’s Degree in Human Resource or related field is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource or related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably within an HR department, is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and other HR-related software.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Professional demeanor with professional internal/external customer-service skills/orientation.
- Have the ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism in the workplace, including appearance, communication, attendance, reliability, and teamwork.
- Knowledge of the Sokaogon Chippewa Community and culture preferred.
Language Skills: Critical listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Reasoning Ability: Understands the cause and effects of relationships, and logical reasoning to maintain confidentiality non-bias in the workplace.
Background Check:
- This position is contingent on the required ability to pass an SCC and SCHC caregiver background check as required for working with children and elderly.
- This is a required driver position, candidate must possess a valid Wisconsin state driver's license, and must meet the eligibility to be covered under the SCC Tribal insurance.
Pre-employment/random drug tests and a background check will be required for this position.
Native American preference if granted according to PL 93-638.
