The Large Structures Operations Manager plays a vital role in leading a skilled fabrication team to execute our business plan with a strong emphasis on safety, excellence, and continuous improvement.
About the Role:
This position is responsible for implementing Lean manufacturing strategies that cultivate a secure work environment while driving profitable growth and enhancing product quality. The manager will oversee daily operations to ensure consistent progress toward our goals, focusing on outstanding customer service, workforce development, and continuous process improvements.
The role significantly contributes to our commitment to deliver on promises and maintain high performance throughout the year by reducing costs, inventory, and lead times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety: Promote a safe environment through education, awareness, and ownership.
- Employee Development: Oversee a staff comprised of various job classifications, identify and develop training requirements, conduct performance appraisals, and plan for merit-based promotions.
- Process Improvements: Sponsor and lead continuous improvement projects using Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques, create and maintain project plans, develop value stream maps, and drive continuous improvement.
- Schedule Execution: Ensure 98% or higher on-time delivery to meet customer needs.
- Cost Management / Reduction: Responsible for managing and achieving targets, including operational budgets, employee expenses, and capital deployment projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering, Business, or related field.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience in Manufacturing, Fabrication, or Assembly.
- Proven track record of effective leadership, team building, and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with materials management disciplines, including production and inventory control.
