Career Area: Human Resources Job Description: This position will be responsible for providing Employee Relations support for clients in Power Generation, Oil and Gas, and PSO Manufacturing. The role is based in Solar's Kearny Mesa facility and may support Superior Gear Facility, located in Gardena, California (some travel required to the LA area). The position requires an experienced HR generalist with broad knowledge of employee relations practices. Experience in Labor Relations will be a distinct advantage. Responsibilities Provide Human Resources support including employee relations, employee engagement activities, and coaching managers regarding consistent application of company policies. Provide leadership to ensure a highly productive work environment for all employees. Serves Employee Relations functions, such as helping employees and managers understand, interpret, and apply work rules fairly and consistently. Helps management and employees understand and work within the parameters of company procedures and HR best practice, etc. to assure fair and consistent application. Mediate disputes between managers and employees when appropriate. Lead disciplinary investigations. As a Business Partner, the incumbent will collaborate with managers, coach leaders in meaningful Employee Survey follow-up, employee development planning, compensation planning, staffing, performance management, and various employee relations issues. Coaches leaders to assure Solar remains in compliance with state and federal laws. Keeps up to date on the latest legislation, case law and interpretations to help management work within the confines of the law. Supports new supervisors as they acquire the skills to lead, assimilate into the new work environment and identify and access reference materials. Reviews, compiles and summarizes merit increase plans for executive approval, makes recommendations for changes, and signs off on individual increases. Completes individual assignments and participates on teams to improve HR policies and processes. Collaborates closely with customers and HR peers to optimize the service provided by all of HR. Additionally, the expectation is to be able to collaborate within HR to ensure consistent application of practices and policies. This role may also be responsible for facilitating one or more HR programs or policies, will interface with internal client managers & employees at all levels, represent the Company to outside organizations, and may represent HR in cross functional teams and process improvement activities. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in human resources or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years experience OR in lieu of a Bachelors degree 9 or more years equivalent experience Ability and willingness to travel to the Los Angeles area once a month Strong computer skills (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems Has demonstrated ability to effectively work with employees and leaders at all levels of an organization Proven ability to develop, implement and manage projects Conducted human resources related investigation/s Experience with handling employee disciplinary action Work experience with conflict resolution Experience in either leading or supporting change management concepts Strong communication skills and proven critical thinking and problem solving Excellent influencing skills and ability to engage as a business partner to drive strategic initiatives Preferred Qualifications Masters Degree HR Certification Previously held HR Representative/Generalist/Specialist/Business Partner position Direct experience in labor relations and contract interpretation HR experience in a manufacturing environment This position is San Diego based, with no remote option; hybrid schedule will be available.
