Position Description:
Processing, preparation and setup requirement machines for specific packaging lines
Essential responsibilities:
- Processes powdered, capsuled, and tableted product for packed shipment:
- Sets up and operates packaging line machines:
- Bottle scramblers
- Desiccant dispensers
- Cotton dispensers
- Capsule counters
- Metal detectors
- Cappers
- Induction sealers
- Labelers
- Vision system
- Banders
- Band heaters (Heat tunnel)
- Batch printers (Domino and Lot stamp)
- Stick packers
- Sachet packers
- Scales
- Sorting machine
- Conveyors, turntables, and other machines.
- Sets up and operates packaging line machines:
- Operates machinery with ability to setup, make adjustments or minor repairs.
- Readily Supplies machines with what they need to keep them running.
- Logs and reports production information in written and electronic form.
Records information, such as batch code, time, and date packaged.
- Identifies boxes and pallets with the correct customer’s work order information.
- Inspects materials, products, and containers for non-conformances at each step of the packaging process.
- Inspects filled container to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.
- Responsible for correct count, accurate label placement, batch codes and lids for each bottle or packaged
- Must work from technical data to ensure quality production runs.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Must contribute to department team incentive goals. Team incentive goals and rewards are based on productivity, in both quantity and quality of work and the accuracy to which the job and/or processes are completed. Each team member is dependent upon the contribution level of his/her co-worker.
- As part of the production team each employee is required to cross train and demonstrate competency on all essential job functions of the bottling department.
- Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Competencies/skill Qualifications:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Basic computer skills to input data into the database.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain a current food handler’ permit.
- English proficiency required.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and converse and listen.
- The employee must exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
