Position Summary:
The position is responsible for assisting the Payroll Supervisor in preparing the semi-monthly payroll. Responsible for printing, enveloping, and distributing checks associated with payroll deductions. With supervisor, calculating quarterly payroll changes and quarterly pension reports. This position also has primary responsibility for bi-weekly payroll. This includes creating batches, entering time, and processing payroll.
Essential Functions:
- Bi-weekly payroll processes and assisting supervisor to process semi-monthly payrolls and all other pays throughout the year.
- Process vouchers for each type of pay, keeping spreadsheets for overtime pay and SUI weeks, and filing all papers associated with the payroll process.
- Create reports, including payroll registers, Union dues, health deductions, monthly pension reports, YTD totals for both bi-weekly and semi-monthly pays, payroll deductions, and quarterly payroll and pension calculations.
- Responsible for calculating pays and retroactive pays and keeping spreadsheets for overtime.
- Responsible for processing payroll vouchers and creating various reports.
- Responsible for assisting timekeepers, reviewing, and adjusting timesheets, and filing all accompanying paperwork associated with such preparations.
- Responsible for the bi-weekly payroll process and for tracking pension information for bi-weekly payroll, enrolling employees and calculating quarterly payroll for pension reports.
- Calculates and tracks SUI weeks for quarterly unemployment reports.
Essential Qualifications:
- Requires a two-year college degree in Project Management, Finance or related equivalent.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel and Word.
- Must have good typing, composition, proofreading, and basic math skills.
- Must have good time management to meet deadlines.
- Must have good organizational skills to manage the varied responsibilities.
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior payroll experience, prior NJ State Pension experience, good math skills, ability to work under a constant deadline, ability to interact with all types of employees and knowledge of government accounting regulations and procedures also preferred.
