What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Intern position at Sompo?
We are seeking Summer 2025 Operations Interns for our Insurance Operations Group in Morristown, NJ and New York, NY.
The Internship Program is a 10-week development initiative designed to provide professional growth with potential long-term opportunity for successful individuals interested in the Insurance/Reinsurance industry.
Operations Interns supports the insurance & reinsurance organizations by delivering a world-class experience to our clients and broker partners through the centralization and standardization of non-underwriting activities. This creates a scalable organizational model that better leverages resources/skill sets while controlling costs.
What can I expect as an Intern?
On-the-job Learning
Operations Interns will build and manage key relationships and help to optimize how the operations team utilizes various platforms to perform necessary tasks, help to maintain reporting databases that the senior operations team will use to draw insight into daily operations, understand the operational metrics that drive Sompo ’s business and how these metrics interact across other segments of the business, assist in setting up forms in the system, and monitor the submissions workflow and process timely based on priority.
Activities, Learning and Development
Throughout the program, Interns will have the opportunity to hear from executive leaders, participate in structured, engaging leadership learnings, participate in networking events and activities with peers, members of our Executive team and outside brokerage firms, and be part of a project to present to their manager and mentor.
What will I need to be as an Intern?
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program with a minimum GPA of 3.0
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and quantitative and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with rapidly changing priorities and demands. Ability to collaborate an absolute must
Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Local to the desired office location or able to secure housing and transportation in the area
Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States without restriction
Salary Range: $22/hr Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
