Job Description
The HR Coordinator facilitates the processes that support various functional areas within Human Resources. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of Human Resources as well as general administrative responsibilities. He/she will be able to work autonomously and efficiently to ensure the end-to-end running of HR projects and operations.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Compiles and maintains personnel files, including responding to legal requests.
- Publishes new job listings to internal and external job boards, schedules interviews with hiring managers and candidates, and extends offers of employment.
- Supports the new hire and onboarding processes, including the collection and processing of new hire paperwork and completion of orientation.
- Coordinates SCPA participation in recruitment events such as career fairs and informational sessions.
- Develops and maintains HR task manual.
- Facilitates or supports activities related to various HR programs and initiatives, including but not limited to education assistance, service awards, benefits open enrollment, and employee communications.
- Receives and addresses employee questions regarding company policies, procedures, and other HR topics, routing as appropriate.
Additional Job Responsibilities
- Supports philanthropic initiatives with appropriate internal and/or external partners.
- Monitors department compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations from other applicable agencies, notifies managers of potential issues, and proposes corrective action.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, and/or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of proven experience in an HR Coordinator role or relevant HR/administrative position
Skills and Abilities
- A valid South Carolina driver’s license is required to operate a Ports Authority-owned licensed motor vehicle.
- Strong ability in using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, in particular)
- Detail-oriented
- Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices
- Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with all HR and benefits information
- Ability to develop strong professional and trustworthy relationships at all levels of the organization
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, working both collaboratively with a team as well as autonomously
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM or PHR certification
- Experience with UKG Ready and/or SmartRecruiters
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit for long periods and occasionally stand
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Vision is required to analyze and process various forms and documents utilized within the framework of performing assigned tasks
- Adequate hearing levels are required to communicate with employees, vendors, etc
- Ability to verbally communicate clearly with employees, vendors, etc.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard and view a computer monitor screen
