SUMMARY
The Dietary Supervisor directs and supervises kitchen activities and the delivery of food to patients and special functions as assigned in consultation with the Food Service Director. He / She assists the Food Service Director with staff development, purchasing, production and distribution. He / She implements established procedures and methods for kitchen operation, develops and evaluates new methods to assist the Food Service Director in planning, organizing, and / or implementing policies and procedures as requested. The Dietary Supervisor reports directly to the Food Service Director. This position is exposed to extremes in temperature, from walk-in freezers to hot electrical equipment, and works with sharp objects (i.e. knives) and hazardous cleaning agents.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Experience : Previous managerial experience in institutional food service preferred, knowledge and experience in preparing ethnic meals and food required.
- Certificate of ServeSafe is preferred.
- Required License / Certification : Certified Kitchen Manager from an accredited school or equivalent education; ABM / MAB / CPI Certification within (90 days upon hire)
- Possesses and in-depth knowledge of food service administration, including food procurement, storage, preparation & service
- Possesses knowledge of current trends in Food Service and Health Care Delivery System
- Possesses ability to plan and supervise work of others
- Has full command (verbal and written) of the English language
- Possesses the physical ability and perceptive acuity, e.g., hearing, visual, to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions
