South Dakota State University (SDSU) is seeking an Assistant Director for Apartment and Guest Services in Housing and Residential Life. This dynamic role involves overseeing university apartments, including the development of promotional materials, event coordination, and contract management. The Assistant Director will also manage guest services for a variety of groups, including summer housing, visiting scholars, guests and summer camps/conferences. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota. This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
The purpose of Housing and Residential Life is to provide an exemplary on campus living experience for South Dakota State University students and guests. This is achieved through community building, engagement, premiere facilities, and creating a positive relationship with our residents and guests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant Director for Apartments and Guest Services will oversee multiple apartment facilities housing over 300 tenants, as well as managing international guests, visiting scholars, guest housing, vendors, technology, departmental communication, and assessment. This role also directs summer camps and conference operations, hosting nearly 40 camps and 4,000 guests. The position plays a key role in recruiting future Jackrabbits by shaping their on-campus summer experiences. Additionally, the Assistant Director will be responsible for long-term planning and aligning organizational goals with those of Housing & Residential Life, Student Affairs, and South Dakota State University.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Hospitality Management, Operations Management, or related field from a regionally accredited institution completed by start date May 15, 2025;
- Property management, facility management, or housing and residential life experience;
- At least one year of supervision experience;
- At least one year of camps/conference management, event management, or hospitality management experience;
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work as a contributing team member; and
- Valid drivers license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least two years’ of experience within Housing and Residential Life or Student Affairs;
- Experience with billing, invoicing, and contract management;
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain internal and external relationships with key partners; and
- Previous marketing experience.
