What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Generalist position at South Dakota Soybean Processors?
The Human Resources Generalist exists to provide guidance, direction and support to the Human Resources department including, but not limited to recruitment and employee engagement, organizational training and development, employee relations, assistance with benefits administration, and special projects. The HR Generalist will be located onsite at High Plains Processing in Mitchell, SD. and will act as backup for the support specialist.
Primary Responsibilities
Safety
- Keep safety at the forefront through communicating policy and working with the EHS team and Managers to ensure compliance.
- Support the HR team in maintaining records that may include incident reports and actively participate in continuous improvement.
- Have a working knowledge of emergency response procedures, contribute to plant security at all times, and exemplify the philosophy that safety is the responsibility of every employee.
People
- Communicate policy and procedures to associates to ensure a clear understanding of objectives and goals.
- Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and associates relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refer more complex questions to the Humans Resources Manager.
Productivity
- Oversee the hiring process including, but not limited to, advertising open positions, applicant tracking, scheduling and participating in candidate interviews, processing criminal background checks, and scheduling pre-employment physicals.
- Conduct new hire orientation and complete all onboarding tasks including maintaining electronic files
- Assist with all aspects of the employee life cycle from recruiting to termination.
- Assist with payroll functions including processing, answering associate questions, and payroll reporting
Communicate and Collaborate
- Professionally interact and clearly communicate with internal and external customers.
- Develop collaborative relationships with all internal departments and supporting teams to ensure optimum productivity.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate or Bachelor degree in human resources or related field preferred
- Minimum of two years related experience required
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with payroll and human resources software preferred
- Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Perform duties outside normal responsibilities as needed to support the team and overall organizational goals.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work well with others
