This position is part of the Victim Services section (SDVS) of the Department of Public Safety. SDVS provides grant funding to subgrantees, mostly consisting of non-profit and government providers of direct services to crime victims. In addition, SDVS also manages the Crime Victim Compensation program, which provides funding to individual victims of violent crimes to offset the costs of injuries.
This position is part of the grant funding program and would provide monitoring and technical assistance to subgrantees in accordance with state and federal requirements. Regular in-state travel to visit subrecipients is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success in this position.
Providing support and cross-training with the Compensation Program at SDVS will be necessary.
Location may be negotiable.
Duties include:
- regular in-state travel;
- develop and implement quality assurance monitoring tools for service providers based on federal and state regulations;
- develop and provide training to providers and other stakeholders;
- complete on-site quality assurance reviews of programmatic and financial aspects of the program;
- develop written reports of reviews, including required plans of correction to remediate quality issues;
- monitor completion of plans of correction and data reporting requirements through on-site and off-site reviews;
- provide on-going technical assistance to providers on specific quality assurance outcome measures and data reporting requirements;
- participate in stakeholder workgroups on quality assurance and service delivery to victims of domestic and other violent crimes;
- Other duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with federal grants, legal documents or interpreting laws and administrative rules.
Knowledge of:
- generally accepted accounting principles;
- computer based programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word;
- principles of serving victims of domestic violence and other violent crimes.
Ability to:
- correctly interpret federal laws, regulations, and grant requirements;
- communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- develop short- and long-range vision for improving quality of services provided to victims of domestic and other violent crimes;
- work collaboratively with providers to identify solutions to problems and use critical thinking skills;
- analyze large volume of data and reports and identify integrity issues;
- navigate and identify integrity problems with grant management information systems;
- analyze documents and make well-reasoned recommendations.
This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
