Job Title: Academic Coach Work Schedule: 195 Days
Reports To: Principal or designee FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary: Based on Tattnall County School System Salary Schedule and dependent upon education and experience
Position Summary:
- Improves instruction by providing assistance to teachers in developing effective teaching strategies for all students; serves as the liaison between the local schools and District support staff; promotes technology integration into the curriculum in accordance to the district’s goals and objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required and Master’s degree preferred; 5 years successfully teaching experience minimum.
- Valid Georgia Teaching Certification
- Experience working with a diverse group of people
- Embodies the core values of the district and abides by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators
Essential Duties:
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Supports technology integration in the instructional program through implementation, modeling, training, and professional growth.
- Provides assistance to teachers in classroom organization, management, and instructional strategies through training, observations and modeling to improve teaching, learning and achievement.
- Provides assistance to teachers in the implementation of the instructional components in the core content areas.
- Plans, conducts, implements, and evaluates school-wide activities related to instructional support based on the needs assessment identified in the Schoolwide Plan.
- Collaborates with instructional teams of teachers to assist with planning, assessment and intervention support for the most at-risk students.
- Serves on school level collaboration teams along with other school personnel such as grade level meetings and PLC meetings.
- Collaborates with school administrators and stakeholders to assist with the revisions of the School Improvement Plan, Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Compact(s) and assist with monitoring the implementation process.
- Assists teachers to utilize state, county, and local test data to improve instruction.
- Collaborates with the local school staff, Title I District Coaches, and central office personnel to provide “best practices” for classroom teachers.
- Demonstrates knowledge of evidence-based practices, learning engagement strategies, balanced instructional framework, effective teaching and learning practices and resources which support Tattnall Teaching and Learning Standards.
- Provides a link between local school staff and District support staff in areas related to instruction and curriculum.
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain a positive professional working relationship with others.
- Collaborates with all stakeholders to revise school’s Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Parent and Family Engagement Compact.
- Participates in school Parent and Family Engagement trainings webinars, and parent activities.
- Maintains appropriate records for all coordinated and/or facilitated academic parent and family engagement events/activities.
- Maintains confidentiality of all student and staff records, standardized tests material and other information.
- Oversees and coordinates all aspects of student assessments, including developing and implementing assessment systems, analyzing results, and providing training and support to staff, ultimately aiming to improve student learning and school performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
