Supervises the daily operation of plant generation equipment and auxiliaries. Directs Operator and Senior Operator training, develops operations procedures, and generates operations personnel shift schedules. Coordinates plant operations schedule and outage schedule with Wholesale Marketing/QSE.
Working Conditions
General office. May frequently be required to work outdoors in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, humidity, temperature swings and inclement weather, some exposure to dust, odor, electrical, mechanical and toxic hazards. Specific vision abilities include close vision and distance vision. Use of personal computing equipment and telephone. Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 25 pounds, ability to reach, bend, and use 2-step stool while safely lifting and lowering boxes. Ability to travel to and from meetings or other business-related events. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays. May be required to address unscheduled emergencies on occasion.
Essential Functions

- Assesses and revises plant operating procedures as necessary, generates new procedures, and trains Operators and Senior Operators in operating procedures.
- Supervises the collection, storage, and sharing of plant operations date.
- Reviews plant logs and reports for accuracy, completeness, and abnormal operating trends.
- Responds to emergency conditions at the plant, including equipment breakdowns and outages, and assists troubleshooting efforts to repair equipment or correct other problems.

- Coordinates, directly and through Senior Operators, operations schedules and outage schedules with Maintenance Supervisor, Plant Manager, and Wholesale Marketing/QSE.
- Prepares and updates the shift schedule for operations personnel, including the coordination of relief and coverage for operations personnel.
- Administers the plant Lock-Out/Tag Out procedures to ensure maintenance is performed in a safe manner.
- Identifies materials, supplies, and parts that need to be purchased to operate plant equipment and equip plant operations personnel.
- Conducts performance evaluations of the Operators and Senior Operators.
- Ensures operations and maintenance activities are conducted in a safe and compliant manner and in compliance with STEC's safety program.
- Performs other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
At least 7 years’ experience in power plant setting, preferably within operations
Licenses & Certifications
