What are the responsibilities and job description for the Benevolence Associate Blankenbaker Campus position at Southeast Christian Church?
Our vision as a church is to “Unleash the Full Force of the Church to Love People One at a Time.” The Benevolence Associate plays a vital role in fulfilling this vision by walking alongside members and regular attendees during times of financial hardship—helping to assess needs, provide financial assistance, and connect individuals to additional resources that support their long-term well-being.
While managing the benevolence fund and distributing financial aid is an essential part of this role, it is not the only responsibility. This role exists to go beyond simply cutting checks—it requires discernment and wisdom to help people find the best possible solutions for their needs, whether financial or otherwise. That could mean connecting them to coaching, counseling, job assistance, or community resources that offer practical help beyond what the church can provide financially.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Assess and distribute benevolence funds with wisdom, ensuring that financial assistance is provided in a responsible, fair, and sustainable way.
- Connect individuals to additional resources, including, groups, counseling, financial coaching, job support, and nonprofit organizations that provide various forms of aid.
- Manage and refine systems and reporting structures for benevolence requests to ensure accountability, transparency, and consistency in decision-making.
- Provide guidance to other ministries on best practices for benevolence, helping them maintain proper processes while not overseeing their decisions directly.
- Track and maintain documentation on benevolence requests and outcomes to assess impact and stewardship of resources.
- Work within the benevolence budget, in coordination with the Stewardship Ministry and the Blankenbaker Team, to ensure funds are allocated wisely.

- Resourcefulness – Knowledgeable about both internal and external resources that can assist with financial, emotional, and practical needs.
- Communication – Able to engage with care and clarity, both in conversations with those seeking assistance and in coaching others on benevolence practices.
- Organization & Administration – Strong ability to create and maintain systems for tracking benevolence efforts and impact.
Our Requirements:
- Prior experience in ministry, social work, financial assistance programs, or nonprofit work preferred.
- Strong administrative, budgeting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assess financial needs with wisdom and allocate resources effectively.
- A mature and engaged member of Southeast Christian Church, or willing to become one
