Job Description:
Under the direction of the Safety Supervisor the Road Safety Supervisor/Driver trainer is a Non – Exempt role. In this role you will be responsible for the training of all new Driver candidates, in addition it is the expectation that the Road Safety Supervisor/Driver Trainer is upholding and teaching the highest industry safety standards to new employees. Our ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Driver Trainer and the ability to lead and oversee candidates to a new career as CDL School Bus Drivers.
Duties:
- Train and supervise all new Driver candidates.
- Oversee Driver training.
- Ensure all company policies and safety standards are being maintained.
- Ensure State/District and STA compliance is being maintained throughout the candidate training process.
- Liaise and build relationships with Drivers in addition to new candidates.
- Alert Safety supervisor of any issues/concerns that need to be addressed.
- Attend accidents on an as needed basis.
- May on occasion be required to drive home to school and/or charter routes.
- Conduct oneself professionally and in a manner to reflect positively on STA.
- Conduct live road observations and site visits to ensure safe operation, conditions and Driver compliance.
- Various other duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications:
- High School or equivalent.
- Valid CDL driver’s license.
- More than 2 years as a School Bus Driver/Trainer role.
- Ability to effectively apply teaching techniques to new driver candidates.
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to certify with the district and meet all STA qualifications.
