Southeastern Louisiana University's College of Education invites applications for the 9-month position of Lions Connected Program Coordinator to begin August 2025. Lions Connected (LC) is an inclusive Comprehensive Transition Program (CTP) certified by the U.S. Department of Education that allows students with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) to enroll in Southeastern Louisiana University. The mission of Lions Connected is to provide a personalized, post-secondary educational experience for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities by immersing Lions Connected students into the "College Experience" while preparing them for vocational opportunities.This position will be expected to (but not limited to): Provide overall day-to-day coordination of program activities; assist in selection of students for the program; identify and secure appropriate courses, social activities, and vocational experience for LC students in the program; develop and coordinate individual LC student schedules and necessary supports, based on inclusive practices; evaluate and teach life skills curriculum; collaborate with participating course instructors; accommodate/modify audit courses instructional material; collaborate with campus and community employment providers to identify and develop individualized work-based learning experiences; maintain student and program data; and directly communicate with LC parents as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field in education
Valid teaching license in Louisiana
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Five years of successful secondary or post-secondary teaching experience working with students with intellectual disabilities
- Transition, community-based and/or vocational experience
- Valid teaching license in Louisiana with certification in secondary special education
- Doctoral degree in education field
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills to build relationships with stakeholders within the program
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Working independently and with collaborative teams
