What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Control Specialist position at Southeastern Paper Group?
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Main duties include controlling the flow of supplies and equipment, tracking and analyzing inventory maintenance and developing protocols for loss mitigation.
- Maintains consistent stock of inventory.
- Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.
- Provides inventory reports to purchasing and inventory control manager.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with vendors.
- Conducts frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory.
- Assists with periodic (at least annual) physical inventory audits.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.
- Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
- Very organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- problem-solving skills to come up with ways to improve overall efficiency and overcome inventory problems.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects at one time in an efficient and timely manner
- Good organizational skills
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience with computerized inventory systems (WMS), MS-OFFICE Excel, Word and email client required.
- Forklift operator certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Cycle counters may need to perform a variety of physical tasks, including:
Sitting: Cycle counter may need to sit for extended periods of time.
Standing: Cycle counter may need to stand for long periods of time without leaving their work area.
Lifting: Cycle counter may need to lift to 70 lbs. occasionally, and 55 lbs. consistently.
Reaching: Cycle counter may need to reach with their hands and arms.
Walking: Cycle counter may need to walk extensively.
Bending: Cycle counter may need to bend, squat, and crouch.
Pushing and pulling: Cycle counter may need to push and pull up to 15 lbs.
Carrying: Cycle counter may need to carry objects in their arms or on their shoulders.
Repeat the same movements at times.
