JOB SUMMARY
The administrative assistant will perform day-to-day administrative duties for the chair of the graduate programs in the College of Education.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Administrative Coordinator - College of Education and Chair of Department of Educator Preparation and Leadership (DEPL), Graduate
Supervisory Responsibility: N/A
Indirect Supervisory Responsibility: N/A
ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but is not limited to the following:
Assist with scheduling, communication, and data oversight.
Provide support to the Department Chair with departmental course scheduling.
Basic secretarial/administrative duties (i.e., copying, answering phone, filing, sending/receiving professional e-mails, correspondence and letter writing, etc.).
Reserve rooms across campus for departmental needs.
Ensure minutes at monthly departmental faculty meetings are recorded accurately and distributed to all members.
Create, proofread, and edit documents for the graduate programs.
Utilize the student information systems to make requests and research issues.
Submit requisitions in the system for departmental needs.
Organize and coordinate college/departmental productions/events/meetings (refreshments, logistics, etc.).
Maintain and securely archive confidential and important correspondence and other documents.

Required Education:
High School/GED in Education
Preferred Education:
Some college coursework, associates degree or bachelors degree.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE
Required:
Two to three years of administrative experience
Preferred:
Two to three years of administrative experience, preferably in a higher education setting

Required:
Excellent office productivity skills including the Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
Strong written communication skills.
Attention to detail.

TRAINING
All new hires and employees transferring into a new position will have a 90-day probationary period within which to learn the functions of the job and to be evaluated. Following the probationary period, the employee can transition to regular status, have the probationary period extended in order to receive more training, or employment can be terminated. Required compliance training is as follows:

SCREENING
All full-time positions at SEU are deemed security-sensitive and require background checks. Employees required to drive their own personal vehicle, a rental car or an SEU vehicle in performance of their duties must pass an MVR records check and meet the requirements of the Universitys insurance carrier in order to meet the requirements of the position.
