Service Writer/Advisor

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Service Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, facilitating communication between clients and our automotive technicians. This role requires a strong understanding of diesel light mechanical services and repairs, ensuring that customer needs are accurately assessed and addressed. The Service Writer will play a crucial role in enhancing customer satisfaction through effective service recommendations and follow-ups.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assess their vehicle service needs.
• Document customer concerns and relay information to technicians for accurate diagnostics.
• Provide estimates for services such as oil changes, brake repairs, shocks, abs, and other vehicle maintenance tasks.
• Maintain clear communication with customers regarding the status of their vehicles throughout the service process.
• Prepare detailed service orders and ensure all necessary parts are ordered in a timely manner.
• Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and address any additional concerns.
• Utilize mechanical knowledge to assist in auto estimating and provide insights on diesel diagnostics.
• Collaborate with the service team to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency.

Experience

• Previous experience in an diesel service environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with diesel sales processes and vehicle maintenance practices is a plus.
• Strong mechanical knowledge, particularly in areas such as oil changes, brake repair, shocks, abs, and general vehicle diagnostics.
• Excellent communication skills with a customer-oriented approach.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.

Service Writer - Job Description

A Service Writer is responsible for assisting customers with their vehicle repair needs. Their duties include greeting customers and telling them about the types of services their shop offers, updating customers on the progress of their vehicle repairs or limited offerings like free vehicle inspections and processing customer transactions upon completion of their vehicle repairs.

Responsibilities

• Interact with customers, listen to their questions and provide timely responses.
• Educate clients about Southern Tire Mart products, services and offers.
• Schedule appointments, take orders, monitor service progress, calculate charges, and process payments.
• Serve as a customer relationship manager.
• Serve as a link between customers and different departments in the organization.
