Job Summary :

SWOSU is seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC / R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) Supervisor to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of HVAC / R systems across university facilities. The HVAC / R Supervisor will lead a team of technicians, ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and contribute to the efficient and sustainable operation of SWOSU's campus infrastructure. Acts as a resource for the physical plant department and builds effective, strong working relationships to enhance department operations and functions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

Supervise, train, and evaluate HVAC / R technicians, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to university policies.
Plan, schedule, and oversee maintenance, repairs, and installation of HVAC / R systems, including split systems, package units, air handling units, chillers, boilers, refrigeration systems, and associated controls.
Conduct diagnostics, troubleshooting, and corrective actions to maintain optimal system performance.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of HVAC / R equipment.
Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers for procurement of equipment, parts, and services.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
Assist in developing budgets for HVAC / R maintenance and capital improvements.
Respond to emergency situations and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
Stay up to date with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices in HVAC / R systems.
Works with plumbers, electricians, and other members of the Physical Plant on projects
Provide support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors
Specific assignments are based on unit need and assigned by the supervisor which could include such things as interpret written instructions and reading blueprints.

Ability to multi-task, organize, manage time effectively, and keep tasks appropriately prioritized

Ability to work independently

Ability to work with, assist, lead, and take directions from others in the interest of operating the Physical Plant to its optimal efficiency

Physical Requirements :

Ability to lift to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or elevated areas.

Work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and humidity.

Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.

Work Setting :

Expectation of on-campus presence with attendance and punctuality

Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe work environment

Work schedule may include evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed

Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements :

Five years previous HVAC experience and / or training or acceptable equivalent experience

Current State of Oklahoma HVAC Contractor's License with unlimited tonnage endorsement

Strong knowledge of HVAC / R principles, electrical systems, and building automation

Knowledge and observance of local and state electrical and mechanical codes

Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals

Basic written, verbal, basic math skills, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications :

Associate degree or higher in HVAC / R technology, mechanical engineering, or a related field

Experience in a university, hospital, or large-scale facility environment

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or their designee may find appropriate
