Job Summary:
SWOSU is seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) Supervisor to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of HVAC/R systems across university facilities. The HVAC/R Supervisor will lead a team of technicians, ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and contribute to the efficient and sustainable operation of SWOSU’s campus infrastructure. Acts as a resource for the physical plant department and builds effective, strong working relationships to enhance department operations and functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, and evaluate HVAC/R technicians, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to university policies.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee maintenance, repairs, and installation of HVAC/R systems, including split systems, package units, air handling units, chillers, boilers, refrigeration systems, and associated controls.
- Conduct diagnostics, troubleshooting, and corrective actions to maintain optimal system performance.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of HVAC/R equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers for procurement of equipment, parts, and services.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Assist in developing budgets for HVAC/R maintenance and capital improvements.
- Respond to emergency situations and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay up to date with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices in HVAC/R systems.
- Works with plumbers, electricians, and other members of the Physical Plant on projects
- Provide support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors
- Specific assignments are based on unit need and assigned by the supervisor which could include such things as interpret written instructions and reading blueprints.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or elevated areas.
- Work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and humidity.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
Work Setting:
- Expectation of on-campus presence with attendance and punctuality
- Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe work environment
- Work schedule may include evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed
