Care Ministry Coordinator
Position Overview:
At Southwood Lutheran Church, you can help others daily as part of our Care Ministry team. The Care Ministry Coordinator provides administrative support in the area of Care Ministry at Southwood Lutheran Church. This position works closely with the Director of Care Ministry in coordinating and tracking services provided through the Care Teams, staff, and pastors to address the vast array of needs for our congregation.
Essential Duties:
- Maintain records tied to the following Care activities: Weekly prayer/care concerns; Grief resource distribution, such as mailings, cards, letters and bulletins; Care Caller tracking; Database maintenance/tagging.
- Maintain Care volunteer lists: Funeral lunch teams and Care Ministry teams.
- Assist with identification, recruiting and training of Care volunteers, including follow-up regarding new member involvement.
- Oversee Giving Tree program for Southwood families and Thanksgiving meal distribution.
- Assist with the coordination of funerals: Coordinate funeral volunteers; Prepare materials and print bulletins; Assist with tasks before, during and after the funeral service.
- Assist with developing, planning and coordinating activities for the Youth Care Team while working closely with Youth Ministry to facilitate this program.
- Assist with development of Care Ministry materials.
- Coordinate materials and room arrangements for Care trainings, meetings, funerals and Healing Prayer services.
- Maintain the Prayer Room and Prayer library.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Committed to an active prayer life, with a Lutheran background preferred but not required.
- Demonstrates positivity and commitment to the purpose of Southwood Lutheran Church.
- Takes initiative, is able to brainstorm ideas and uses creativity with day to day tasks.
- Displays excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize and work with a variety of members and non-members.
- Possesses strong computer skills to work with various software platforms.
- Demonstrates organizational skills and close attention to detail.
- Holds passion and commitment to caring for people, with an ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
