Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Welder with at least 2 years of shipyard experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be skilled in welding processes used in ship construction and repair, including SMAW (Stick), FCAW (Flux-Cored), MIG, and TIG welding. This role requires precision, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a dynamic shipyard environment.
Requirements:
- 2 years of welding experience in a shipyard or marine environment.
- Proficiency in SMAW, FCAW, MIG, or TIG welding (Certifications preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Familiarity with NAVSEA, ABS, or AWS D1.1 welding standards.
- Must pass a welding test and/or certification process as required by the company.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends
Responsibilities:
- Perform structural and pipe welding on marine vessels, following blueprints and specifications.
- Use various welding techniques, including SMAW, FCAW, and TIG, to weld steel and aluminum components.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Conduct inspections on completed welds to ensure quality and adherence to industry codes (ABS, NAVSEA, or AWS standards).
- Work in confined spaces, heights, and outdoor environments as required by shipyard operations.
- Collaborate with fitters, pipefitters, and other tradespeople to complete projects on schedule.
- Follow OSHA, company, and shipyard safety regulations, including proper use of PPE and fire safety protocols.
- Repair or replace damaged metal components on ships and offshore structures.
