Role Overview: This role offers a unique opportunity for pre-med students to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting, develop their medical knowledge, and prepare for a future career in medicine. The position is ideal for those taking a gap year before entering medical school.

What We Offer:

  • Training on how to serve as a patient advocate and ensure patient comfort during exams and treatments.
  • Guidance on the process of moving patients to different examination areas and preparing them for medical procedures.
  • Instruction on accurate recording of patient information, including medical history, medications, allergies, and test results.
  • Understanding the importance of obtaining proper consent forms before treatment and the legal and ethical aspects involved.
  • Safe medication documentation practices, including the five rights of medication administration.
  • Techniques for collecting laboratory specimens and understanding their role in patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Effective communication of treatment procedures and instructions to patients to ensure they understand their care plan.
  • Assisting the surgery physician during patient examinations and treatments, including instrument handling and performing minor medical tasks.
  • Managing prescription refills and communicating with pharmacies under the supervision of a provider.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized treatment environment to promote patient safety and care efficiency.
  • A letter of recommendation upon successful completion of the program.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (biology, chemistry, pre-med, etc.).
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in medicine and currently in a gap year before attending medical school.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient care procedures is a plus.
  • Previous healthcare or volunteer experience is highly desirable.
