Express Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a Payroll Specialist for an evaluation hire (contract-to-hire) opportunity with a non-profit in Durham, NC.
This is a long-term position, 40 hours per week, with a flexible Hybrid schedule (4 days in the office and 1 day remote). The person in this role will be the primary payroll person for over 200 employees. Compensation for the role is likely $28-$30/hour.
Responsibilities Include:
- Process payroll for employees accurately and on time using ADP with a Biweekly pay period
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies
- Assist with the facilitation of the onboarding process for new hires, including payroll orientation and the timely closing of employee files at termination
- Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy for both exempt and non exempt employees
- Calculate and process adjustments, bonuses, commissions, and other payroll-related payments
- Generate payroll reports as needed for management and regulatory purposes including but not limited to; benefit deductions, 403b, PTO accrual, etc.
- Act as a primary contact for inquiries related to payroll and PTO accrual
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters and reach out to team members to complete timesheets
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting
- Assist with payroll-related projects and initiatives as needed
We're seeking candidates with a Bachelor's in Accounting or related field and prior experience with:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role or related field
- Proficiency in ADP - Financial Services
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
