SUMMARY: The Human Resources Generalist manages the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource office in compliance with laws and regulations. Multiple responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment, departmental development, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organizational development, and employment .
The Payroll Manager oversees multi state payroll, furthers the department's goals and interfaces with appropriate government agencies. Assures quality processing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll for employees in a multi state environment in compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local taxing authorities; assists in preparation of information used for processing quarterly reports and annual W-2's.
Key Accountabilities
Generalist- Bachelor’s degree and 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires a solid understanding of federal employment law, such as FLSA, FMLA, ADAAA, Worker’s Compensation, EEO, etc. PHR/SPHR preferred.
Payroll Manager- Bachelor’s degree Preferred with Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred; supplemented with five (5) years of related work experience

Key Accountabilities
- Actively promote and drive a culture of safety.
- Continuously represent the company core values.
- Continuously develop and implement improvements in processes (i.e., payroll, hiring, HRB, etc.).
- Build employee partnerships and/or relationships.
- Process payroll for multiple sites.
- Act as active member of the Safety Committee.
- Implement talent management and acquisition processes to support revenue and profit growth of Spectrum business units.
- Recruiting and staffing logistics; for both exempt and non- exempt positions.
- Handle requests for temporary workers and coordinate with agencies to ensure our needs are met.
- Process payroll for multiple sites and set up employees in correct worked in/lived in state.
- Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.).
- Maintain and organize payroll records using accepted record retention practices.
- Ensure payroll backups, maintenance of payroll files and security.
- Ensure the processes of new hires and terminations in a timely manner.
- Verify quarterly reports and annual W-2’s.
- Maintain employee records.
- Administer employee orientation, development, and training.
- Assist with benefit enrollment/plans as needed.
- Develop and update job descriptions as needed.
- Respond to unemployment requests and attend hearings as needed.
- Responsible for administering workers’ compensation claims and coordinating RTW w/employee.
- Responsible for maintaining Affirmative Action and OSHA 300 log.
- Act as liaison between employee/supervisor/manager on employment related issues.
- Assist supervisors/managers in preparing disciplinary action.
- Investigate employee issues.
- Coordinate required offsite/onsite training
- Identify training needs and opportunities (i.e., lead training for employees new to position, training brought to facility for specific projects/groups, etc.).
- Responsible for company activities (i.e., holiday meals, retirement and recognition events, etc.).
- Enroll employees in appropriate databases (medical, dental, etc.).
- Other duties as assigned.
