What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plating Lab and Waste Water Technician position at SPF America?
B&W Plating, Inc. is looking for a qualified Lab/Waste Water Technician to undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with possible hazardous materials. They will also be well-trained in maintaining safety conditions and be passionate about work that makes things move forward. This technical position will support the Plating Manager and Plant Management in aspects of analysis, production, quality, efficiencies, and cost reduction initiatives. The goal is to optimize processes and succeed in producing reliable and important results that are used to make a difference.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Electro-Plating Responsibilities
- Learn and understand the processes for electro-plating lines
- Chemical titrations for various tanks in an electroplating line
- Calculations of chemical additions needed to maintain target chemistry
- Additions of chemicals
- Record maintenance
Waste Treatment Responsibilities
- Learn and understand the process and operation of our waste treatment equipment
- Ability to take classes to obtain an Arkansas waste water license within six months of employment
- Operate and monitor the system on a daily basis
- Maintain records
- Manage reporting requirements for local, state, and federal parties
- Manage pick-up and disposal of waste
Competencies:
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
- Ability to read blueprints and understand specifications of shape of die, part, or tool.
- Control operations of equipment or systems
- Determines the kind of tools and equipment needed to complete job
- Analyzing needs and product requirements to create a design
- Understand how to find key information for job
- Effectively communicate with plating team, quality, production, purchasing, customer service and suppliers as needed
Education and/or Experience:
- Experience with chemical testing and analysis methods
- Experience in waste water treatment methods and reporting, waste water license a plus
- Degree in the field of chemistry or similar discipline is a plus
Computer Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and use of Microsoft products. Knowledge of manufacturing software is a plus.
