BASIS Independent Brooklyn Upper is seeking candidates for a High School Robotics Coach!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engages children in physical fitness activities and develops fundamental skills.
Develops and implements effective program curriculum and content.
Plans, organizes and conducts a wide variety of physical education activities for all age groups and genders.
Establishes, maintains and fosters positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Organizes people, supplies, and equipment
Knowledge of all aspects of various sport programs and the ability to teach/coach student-athletes toward acquisition of those skills.
Maintains a safe environment for participants.
Models and fosters cooperation, sportsmanship, and ethical behavior.
Determines the system of play to be used in a fair and equal way so that all participants have playing time.
Implements best strategies and methods to carry out a system of play.
Understands the rules of the sport.
Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Education & Credentials:
High School degree required; Associate’s degree preferred.
1 to 2 years prior coaching experience; coaching certification preferred.
Minimum of three years’ experience working in a K-12 setting or an education related field.
CPR and First Aid certified.
Essential Skills:
Exhibits strong interpersonal and communication skills. Creates a responsive and productive working relationship with parents, children, teachers, other staff and the local community through remaining accessible and communicating clearly and concisely.
Utilizes technology to effectively communicate with staff, parents and the administrative team.
Demonstrates strong organizational skills, flexibility, and a willingness to continually learn and improve skills.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent speaking and listening (50-75%). Must be proficient in speaking, writing and reading English to include reading and comprehending policies and procedures, and being able to correspond in English.
Frequent walking and standing (50-75%).
Frequent repetitive or fine hand movements, working with arms above shoulder level and reaching (50-75%).
Frequent bending, squatting, stooping, kneeling, or twisting (50-75%).
Frequent rising from the floor, gripping or squeezing (50-75%).
Occasional use of computer keyboard and mouse (10-25%).
Occasional carrying and lifting 25-50 pounds (10-25%).
Occasional climbing of stairs, playground equipment, or ladders (10-25%).
Limited operation of vehicles (5-10%).
Employee is regularly required to speak, hear and use clear vision with or without correction. This may include viewing small numbers.
TRAVEL: Must be able to travel by air or motor vehicle to required training and development, as well as competitions.
