What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Area Cleaner position at Spring Hill Suites?
- Employees should clock in 5 minutes before the start of the start of the shift. You may not clock in before that time without manager's approval.
- Associates are to be in uniform wearing a name tag, and well groomed.
- You will report to the Executive housekeeper every morning before your shift to discuss any areas of focus.
- Your PA cart should be returned to the laundry room at the end of every shift, so it is easy to find. Please know Front Desk, Laundry, Maintenance, and other staff members may have to grab supplies from your cart throughout the day to serve guests and keep the hotel up to proper cleanliness standards. If you ever have an issue with how your cart is left for you, please report to your Executive.
- Your PA cart should be stocked with, Pink spray, Green spray, Yellow spray, glass and chrome cleaner, toilet brush, detail brush, swiffer duster, enough rags for a day of cleaning, trash bags, gloves, and needed restock items such as TP, paper towel, gym towels, disposable headphones, pool towels.
- Alert the Executive if your vacuum is not working. Best practice is to turn in your vacuum before your day off weekly for maintenance to clean out.
- Follow the training guidelines given to you for PA cleaning. The PA check list should be turned in at the end of your shift to GM or EHK.
- It is your responsibility to make the Maintenance department aware of any maintenance issues found throughout the hotel during your shift. You should do this by writing a maintenance ticket and giving it to the Front Desk for them to communicate with the correct person needed.
- It is your responsibility to check the wellness of the lobby furniture and upholstery. If you find couch pillows dirtied, please remove them from the lobby and bring them to laundry. If you find chairs, tables, or couches that are showing signs of wear please alert GM and maintenance so they can be properly fixed or replaced.
- It is your responsibility to ensure the guest-use rooms such as the pool, meeting room, and fitness center are properly stocked with the correct supplies per your PA sheet every day.
- You are to keep a regular weekly schedule for cleaning behind the couches and under the coffee bar.
- The windows in the pool room, fitness center, lobby and meeting room should be squeegeed, and metal wiped down with Power Force. Use rust spots CLR as needed.
- As a member of the housekeeping department, you will be expected to assist your coworkers on heavy check out days by stripping the room of linens, helping them make beds, assisting laundry, etc. This is expected hotel wide of all employees.
- As an associate of the hotel, you must greet guests in a friendly manner and conversate with them whenever possible.
- Ask guests if there is anything that you can help them with or get for them. Remember we want to anticipate guests needs before they have the chance to be inconvenienced by anything.
- Please keep language appropriate and quiet while on the floors, as the hallways echo, and we do not want to make any guests uncomfortable.
- Music should only be listened to in headphones while cleaning rooms.
- Do not clock out unless your board has been turned in and your Executive has given you explicit permission to punch out. If they have found issues that are your responsibility, you will be expected to go back and fix areas you may have previously cleaned.
- A valid call-in must be done 2 hours prior to the shift. Failure to alert the Executive or GM by 8am will result in a write-up.
- All Housekeeping hours are directly affected by the occupancy of the hotel. The hotel cannot guarantee any housekeeper a certain number of hours weekly as the flow of the business does not allow for such guarantees.
- All employees are encouraged to cross train! Ask a manager if you also want to be trained in a different department.
