Springfield College, located in historic Springfield, Massachusetts, announces the search for its next Vice President for Institutional Advancement. The Vice President reports to the President and is a member of the President's Leadership Team. The College invites applications for this outstanding opportunity.

The Vice President is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the College's development and alumni relations efforts. Establishing goals and objectives to effectively advance the understanding and support of the College with alumni, trustees, students, faculty, staff, parents, friends, corporations, foundations, government agencies, and the general public. Working closely with the President and Board of Trustees to plan and launch the public phase of the College's comprehensive campaign.

Founded in 1885, Springfield College is a private, coeducational institution offering undergraduate and graduate programs that reflect its distinctive Humanics Philosophy - the education of the whole person in spirit, mind, and body for leadership in service to humanity. Springfield sits on the eastern bank of the Connecticut River near its confluence with three rivers: the western Westfield River, the eastern Chicopee River, and the eastern Mill River. As of 2019, the estimated population was 153,606, making it the third-largest city in Massachusetts, the fourth-most populous city in New England after Boston, Worcester, and Providence, and the 12th-most populous in the Northeastern United States. Responsibilities

Develop and lead an integrated fundraising program, including developing the foundation for the next comprehensive capital campaign.
Work closely with the President, Trustees, and volunteers on gift solicitation.
Staff and assist the College’s Board of Trustees Institutional Advancement Committee in translating the College's strategic plan into a program to raise funds for the operating budget, scholarships, special programs, facilities and endowment.
Develop and support the Alumni Relations program and promote active and effective alumni engagement in a wide range of activities supporting the College.
Contribute to the College-wide planning, budgeting, policy development, and issue resolutions as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Assess current programs, projects, and staff assignments and create a dynamic, future-oriented Institutional Advancement environment and culture of philanthropy.
Represent the College and the President to internal and external constituencies, including professional service within institutional advancement.


Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree is required and minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in non-profit fundraising are required.
Master's degree is preferred.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proven record of leadership in higher education fundraising, including experience in organizing, planning, and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including a comprehensive capital campaign.
Demonstrated ability to work constructively with other members of a management team, the Board of Trustees, and with professionals in institutional advancement.
Demonstrated skill in recruiting, managing, and motivating professional and support staff and volunteers.
Proven ability to be a dynamic and energetic spokesperson and a representative of the College.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to write and speak persuasively about the role of philanthropy in higher education, and Springfield College’s mission.
High levels of energy, creativity, initiative, and innovation are also essential.
Evening, holiday or weekend work required.
Extensive travel required.
