What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Inventory Specialist - Full Time - Warehouse position at SPRINGFIELD SD 19?
We are excepting applications for a Lead Inventory Specialist in anticipation of possible vacancies. This position is responsible for inventory, oversight, purchasing, receiving, and distributing of supplies and materials on behalf of the District and the assignment of duties and schedules of Utility Materials Workers.
Essential Functions
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
- Purchases required District materials and supplies, paying close attention to specifications and competitive pricing/quotes.
- Receives materials and supplies, verifies orders and packing slips, records information and accurately stocks or distributes.
- Develops strategic plans, methods, and controls for an efficient and effectively ran warehouse.
- Maintains a comprehensive and accurate warehouse inventory system.
- Packages and ships materials and supplies as required.
- Schedules and facilitates the movement of inventory, materials, equipment, supplies, and mail as requested to appropriate destinations safely within identified time constraints.
- Trains Inventory Specialist, Utility Materials Workers and others as directed; demonstrates competency in effective and safe operation of large delivery vehicles, lifting equipment, and other material handling equipment.
- Maintains all material movement equipment fleet in good working order and schedules routine maintenance and repairs to ensure safe, uninterrupted service.
- Recommends budgetary allocations to supervisor for scheduled fleet and equipment replacement.
- Completes computer data entry/order processing work using District computer programs to input high volumes of data ensuring speed and accuracy.
- Operates and utilizes District communications equipment.
- Assists other staff and serves as a back-up as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Associates degree or higher (attach diploma); OR
- Completion of two years post-secondary study consisting of 72 credit hours, 48 semester units (attach transcripts); OR
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); AND
- One (1) year experience or equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration & Other Requirements
- Ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR card.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Oregon Class B Commerical Drivers License (CDL)
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a warehouse or inventory position.
- Experience in custodial and or maintenance work, including understanding of cleaning methods and materials and the use of custodial equipment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (May be acquired through education, training, and/or experience.)
Knowledge of: District policies and procedures; modern office practices and procedures; letter writing, correct language usage; receptionist, telephone and record keeping/filing systems; computer hardware and software programs and their usage for inventory; modern office equipment; safety and first aid practices and procedures;
Ability to: understand and apply District and school policies and procedures; maintain appropriate office appearance and attire; maintain attendance standards as outlined in OSEA bargaining agreement; greet stakeholders; maintain appropriate office appearance and attire; maintain regular and acceptable attendance and punctuality, as set forth in Board policy; provide information pertaining to area and/or District/School policies, procedures and other pertinent information; operate maintain and arrange for repair various office/school equipment; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of work and from diverse backgrounds; maintain records; utilize keyboarding skills commensurate with the required functions for this position; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; utilize appropriate grammar and spelling when corresponding, make mathematical calculations accurately; follow oral and written instructions; accurately research various information and prepare related reports.
Work Direction, Lead & Supervisory Responsibilities:
No assigned permanent staff to supervise. Trains and supervises Inventory Specialist and Utility Materials Workers.

Working Conditions:
Normal school / warehouse environment. Normal school building environments. The employee will be exposed to bodily fluids, bloodborne pathogens, sick and/or contagious students and staff. The employee will be exposed to toxic chemicals, fumes and airborne particles. All duties to be performed within health, safety standards as established by local and state OSHA and school district emergency procedures. The employee regularly works indoors and occasionally outdoors, including during hot, cold, dry, or wet weather conditions. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment and work in high and or tight work places. The employee may work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, disinfectants, and sprays. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee must be available for duties on weekends and or evenings as assigned.
