Job Summary
Our client is seeking a mid- to senior-level Employee Benefits Attorney to join their legal team in Rochester, Buffalo, or Albany, NY. This role offers the opportunity to work with a well-established firm specializing in employee benefits law, with potential remote flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel on all aspects of employee benefits law, including the design, establishment, maintenance, and operation of various retirement, welfare, and fringe benefit plans.
- Advise clients on compliance with ERISA, COBRA, ACA, IRS, and DOL regulations.
- Assist with executive compensation matters, including tax implications and compliance considerations.
- Conduct legal research and provide guidance on employee benefits laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Draft and review plan documents, policies, and regulatory filings.
- Counsel clients on tax implications related to retirement plans, health insurance, and executive compensation.
Qualifications & Experience
- 4 to 10 years of experience in Employee Benefits law.
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, ACA, IRS, and DOL regulations.
- Experience advising on 401(k), pension plans, executive compensation, and health insurance benefits.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong academic background.
- A proactive, client-service-oriented mindset with a high level of initiative.
