Overview SPS Global Talent’s client is seeking a detail-oriented Application Support Engineer to join the team. This role is instrumental in ensuring system reliability, handling critical alerts, and continuously improving application processes through automation and proactive collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities
- Incident Analysis & Prevention:
- Review and verify analyses completed by team members.
- Implement corrective changes to prevent the recurrence of incidents.
- Critical Alert Resolution:
- Address critical application alerts promptly, including production defects.
- Deliver detailed business impact analyses and coordinate with teams to manage minor improvements as necessary.
- Knowledge Management:
- Collaborate with application development teams to review and update knowledge articles and runbooks, ensuring all documentation remains current.
- Issue Resolution & Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams to resolve application issues, escalating when needed to keep systems running smoothly.
- Audit & Compliance:
- Validate and compile responses for informational requests arising from ongoing audits.
- Disaster Recovery:
- Test and implement disaster recovery scripts during both planned and unplanned outages, providing required Business Continuity Management (BCM) evidence.
- Automation & Efficiency:
- Identify opportunities to automate routine tasks associated with application monitoring and reduce manual efforts.
- Development Partnership:
- Provide constructive feedback during the design and development phases of applications to enhance functionality and maintainability.
- Deployment & Upgrade Management:
- Execute pre-production and production application code deployment plans.
- Oversee the end-to-end vendor application upgrade process utilizing tools such as SNOW, SF, etc.
- Risk & Control Integration:
- Integrate risk management and control processes into everyday activities to supervise, mitigate, and manage operational risks effectively.
- Experience & Education:
- A minimum of 4 years of related experience is required.
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in key technologies including Java/J2EE, Oracle/SQL, IBM MQ, SNOW/ITIL Process, and Splunk/Autosys.
- Hands-on experience with core platforms such as Linux/Unix and AWS.
- Additional Technological Skills:
- Familiarity with container technologies (Kubernetes/Docker), Integration Bus (IIB), and a solid understanding of networking is advantageous.
- Domain Knowledge:
- Experience or familiarity within Finance and Securities is preferable.
