Job Decsription:
The Workstation Specialist will join the Workstation Support Team at PennDOT's Central Office in Harrisburg. The role is 100% onsite, responsible for deploying PCs, providing end-user support, troubleshooting hardware/software issues, and collaborating with IT teams in a large enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy, test, and maintain PC images for a large enterprise environment (1,000 PCs).
- Provide support for PCs, laptops, Macs, and peripherals in a large domain environment.
- Install, configure, and repair PC hardware, including hard drives, motherboards, and memory.
- Support security, disk encryption, and anti-virus products on Microsoft Windows PCs, laptops, and Apple OS X Macs.
- Troubleshoot Active Directory issues, including GPOs and name resolution.
- Manage profiles and certificates on Microsoft Windows PCs, laptops, and Apple OS X Macs.
- Utilize remote tools (SCCM, RDP, ARD) to support PCs, laptops, and Macs.
- Provide application support for MS Office 365 on Windows and Mac systems.
- Integrate Macintosh systems into Active Directory Domain environments.
- Develop and optimize SCCM OSD Task Sequences for system deployment.
- Utilize the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) and Microsoft Deployment Tool Kit (MDT).
- Use VBS and PowerShell for scripting and automation.
- Report on and query Configuration Management Console for insights.
- Continuously improve processes and creatively solve problems in dynamic environments.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience deploying and supporting 1,000 PCs in a large enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, GPO troubleshooting, and name resolution.
- Skilled in supporting both Microsoft Windows PCs and Apple OS X Macs using remote tools.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 application support.
- Ability to integrate and support Macs in Active Directory environments.
- Knowledge of security, disk encryption, and anti-virus solutions for both Windows and Mac OS.
- Strong scripting skills with VBS and PowerShell for automation.
- Thorough understanding of SCCM, MDT, and OSD Task Sequences for system imaging and deployment.
- Microsoft Certification preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to provide clear instructions to end users.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Customer-focused with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively.
- Ability to adapt and work in a team-oriented environment, open to new methods and technologies.
