SRC Construction is looking to hire an experienced Accounting Controller in the Construction field for their office in Meriden, CT!
Hours: 8am-4:30pm
Salary: Based on Experience
Reporting to the owner, the incoming Controller will serve as a member of the executive management team. S/he will oversee establishing the processes and systems necessary to produce timely and accurate financial reporting. The Controller will oversee all financial aspects of the real estate development and construction businesses, as well as all new business ventures. S/he will manage the budgeting and forecasting process while executing the day-to-day accounting transactions.
The responsibilities of the Accounting Controller are:
- Responsible for all day-to-day Construction accounting including AP/AR, certain tax and management reporting.
- Serve as the leader of the accounting and finance department for real estate development and construction, and any new business ventures.
- Collaborate with the financial controller of the property management group.
- Create, document, monitor and update accounting policies and procedures.
- Oversee implementation and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Ensure all payments are completed on time (including accounts payable and bank deposits.)
- Review budgets; challenge accuracy and basis; recommend modifications, as necessary.
- Participate in sourcing and structuring both debt and equity to fund operations; set accounting systems to track sources and uses of funds from financing.
- Analyze costs and profits. Set and track financial KPIs.
- Build risk assessment models to evaluate investments.
- Perform internal audits and assist with external audits.
- Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations. Work effectively with third party tax consultants.
- Develop procedures for managing cash and establish a forecasting cadence.
- Assess and mitigate business risks throughout the organization.
- Assist with cost certifications
- WIP (work in progress) schedules and certified payroll
- Produce AIA (annual investment allowance) requsitions, contracts and billings

The requirements of the Accounting Controller are:
- 5 years of experience as a controller in the construction field - MUST
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles.
- Knowledge of Federal and State contract processing requirements including the process of AIA (annual investment allowance) requisitions.
- WIP (work in progress) schedules and Certified payroll reporting experience.
- Full working knowledge of all accounting software Timberline/Sage 300 - MUST
- Strong communication abilities, and attention to detail.
- Supervisory experience is a plus.
