This fast-paced hospital Phlebotomist position is the perfect fit for someone who likes to work throughout all our hospital areas, has great phlebotomy skills, and is dependable. This role is a vital part of the healthcare team, and we are looking for someone who takes pride in providing great service to our patients.

Schedule: This is a part time PRN/Occasional position. Shifts start as early as 3:00 a.m. or 4:00 a.m. and are 4 hours. This position requires every other weekend commitment to meet minimum hours per month. Weekends and holiday shifts include differential pay.

Job Summary:

Under specific direction, collects and prepares blood specimens and other samples for laboratory testing. Maintains collection areas and equipment and performs record keeping duties.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collects blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary technique and processes the samples according to laboratory guidelines.
• Delivers samples to the laboratory in established time frames.
• May perform waived testing.
• May perform a variety of administrative duties to support the department.
• Identifies patients using two identifiers.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

• High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
• Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
• Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Rare climbing.
