What you’ll do:
- Coordinates the admissions process.
- Conduct tours with prospective residents and their families.
- Handle inquiry calls from hospitals, families, etc.
- Coordinate referral review and approval in an effective manner, working with key staff including ADON, DON, Rehab Director, and RNACs.
- Prescreen to ensure clinical needs can be met prior to accepting a referral.
- Verify insurance and establish payor source through Business Office prior to accepting a referral.
- Verify admissions have authorizations or obtain authorization and communicate the authorization number to the Billing Department.
- Contact resident/family prior to admission to answer any questions.
- Assist resident and family in completing required admission paperwork.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with referral sources.
- Keep local hospitals updated as to current bed availability.
- Communicate the needs of new admissions to facility staff to ensure a smooth transition.
- Ensures facility meets occupancy and payor mixed budget requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Communication
- Coordinate the daily morning census meeting, communicate admission information to healthcare team
- Professional telephone skills with the ability to handle referral calls effectively and efficiently, meeting the needs of the referral sources and families
- Collaborates with healthcare team members regarding admissions.
- Utilizes effective formal and informal communication skills.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Bachelor's degree or related experience in Admissions, Social Work, or Nursing
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a long-term care or health facility
- Possesses ability to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of the age group served
- Professional telephone skills with the ability to handle referral calls effectively and efficiently, meeting the needs of the referral sources and families.
- Experienced with Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
- Meets attendance/scheduling requirements.
- Criminal background check current within one year
